Florida will always be where my roots are, but Oklahoma is where I found my wings.
When I first stepped onto a gymnastics mat as a kid, I couldn’t have imagined the path ahead of me.
Yet here I am, in my fifth year at the University of Oklahoma, competing for one of the most storied gymnastics programs in the country.
It’s a journey that’s been anything but straightforward, filled with unexpected twists and life-changing decisions.
Like most gymnasts, my recruiting process began early—so early that I was just an eighth grader trying to navigate a future that felt a lifetime away.
At the time, I was committed to another school.
It seemed like the right choice then, but life had other plans.
A coaching change made me rethink everything, and that’s when Oklahoma came into my life.
I didn’t fully know what I wanted in a college back then, but I did know one thing: I wanted to be part of something bigger than myself. I wanted to win championships, grow as an athlete, and compete for a program that shared my hunger for success.
And Oklahoma?
Well, it turned out to be everything I was looking for—and more.
A Legacy of Winning
Oklahoma’s gymnastics program is unparalleled.
With coaches who’ve been together for nearly two decades, their expertise and consistency were impossible to overlook.
They don’t just coach—they win.
A lot.
When I visited OU and got a taste of the program’s culture, it didn’t take long to decide this is where I wanted to be.
The decision to come to OU wasn’t just about gymnastics; it was about joining a family, a legacy, and a team with an unrelenting drive to be the best.
A New Team, Every Year
One of the most exciting things about college gymnastics is how the team evolves year after year.
New teammates bring fresh energy, while seniors leave their wisdom and legacy behind.
It’s like stepping into a new chapter every season, and that constant change keeps me motivated.
This dynamic has shaped my perspective on the sport.
It reminds me to stay focused on my goals while enjoying the camaraderie of my teammates.
My coaches, who are like family, play a massive role in this.
Their bond, built over years of working together, extends to all of us athletes.
From the start, my mom and I knew I’d be in great hands here.
What surprises many people is how fun and relaxed OU’s gymnastics environment can be.
Despite the high expectations, we never lose sight of enjoying what we do.
We joke around, laugh, and savor the little moments—while keeping our eyes on the ultimate prize.
Coming Back for More
When my coach, K.J. Kindler, asked if I wanted to return for a fifth year, it felt like a no-brainer.
I’ve been at OU for what feels like a blink of an eye, and the idea of extending this chapter was irresistible.
Gymnastics is only a part of my life, but it’s one I love deeply.
Getting the chance to compete for one more year felt like a gift I couldn’t pass up.
Coming back wasn’t just about my love for the sport either—it was about the opportunities OU provides.
Here, I’m training as an athlete and preparing for life beyond gymnastics.
My coaches constantly check in on my future plans and offer support every step of the way.
Whether it’s my master’s program or the next stage of my career, I know I’m set up for success.
A Season to Remember
This final season isn’t about me—it’s about my teammates.
I’m focused on being the best leader I can be and creating an environment where everyone feels supported and inspired.
I want to leave a legacy that reflects not just my performances but the positive impact I’ve had on those around me.
This year is particularly exciting as OU joined the SEC.
Winning the SEC Championship would be a dream come true and a testament to the incredible talent on this team.
But our goals go beyond that.
We aim to outdo ourselves every meet, striving for constant improvement.
Nationals are always the ultimate destination, and this year, we’re determined to build on our program’s storied success.
A Lasting Impact
As I reflect on my time at OU, I can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude.
This journey has been about so much more than gymnastics—it’s been about growth, friendship, and finding a second family.
When my time here comes to an end, I want to look back, knowing I gave everything I had. I want to know that I helped my team succeed and inspired those around me to aim higher and dream bigger.
For now, I’m cherishing every moment, every practice, and every competition.
Competing for the University of Oklahoma has been the greatest honor of my life, and I’m determined to make this final season one to remember.
Here’s to one last ride—and to leaving everything on the mat.
